A gang sheet is a single piece of DTF film filled with lots of designs at once. Instead of paying for each design separately, you pay for the sheet and fit as much on it as you can. Once it is printed, you cut the designs apart and heat press each one onto a garment.
The name comes from "ganging up" several jobs on one print run. It is a cost-effective way to buy DTF transfers, especially if you print several designs, several sizes, or a mix of front and back prints.
Why gang sheets save money
At Mocked Up, sheets are priced per sheet, not per design. A 42 x 100cm sheet costs $45 whether it holds one large print or thirty small logos. That means every bit of empty film is money you have paid for and not used.
Some examples of what people put on one sheet:
- A club order with front logos, back numbers and sleeve prints for the whole team.
- A small brand's new drop, with each design in a few different sizes for kids and adults.
- Pocket-size logos for a business, repeated as many times as will fit.
- A mix of one-off gifts for friends and family.
Gang sheet sizes
Mocked Up offers eight sizes. The smaller sheets suit a few prints. The 42cm-wide roll sheets suit bigger orders and work out at $45 per metre.
| Sheet size | Price (NZD) |
|---|---|
| 21 x 27cm | $18 |
| 27 x 37cm | $20 |
| 42 x 59cm | $25 |
| 42 x 100cm | $45 |
| 42 x 200cm | $90 |
| 42 x 300cm | $135 |
| 42 x 400cm | $180 |
| 42 x 500cm | $225 |
There is no minimum order. For a deeper look at choosing a size, see gang sheet sizes and pricing explained.
How to make a gang sheet
You do not need design software to build a gang sheet. The Mocked Up gang sheet builder runs in your browser.
- Pick a sheet size. Start with your best guess. You can change it once you see how your designs fit.
- Add your designs. Upload PNG, JPG, SVG or WEBP files, or pull them from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Canva, iCloud and more. Images need to be at least 300 x 300px.
- Set each print size. Resize each design to the size you want it on the garment. Duplicate a design if you need several copies.
- Arrange or Auto Build. Drag designs into place yourself, or use Auto Build to pack them for you.
- Check the warnings. The builder checks image resolution (DPI) and flags any designs that overlap.
- Save or order. Save the sheet to reopen later, or add it to your cart.
Need a quick name or slogan? The Add Text tool lets you type text straight onto the sheet. If you design in Canva, our guide to making a gang sheet in Canva walks through that route.
How to fill a sheet without wasting film
A well-packed sheet can hold a lot more than a loosely arranged one. These habits help:
- Measure your garments first. A typical adult front print is around 25 to 30cm wide. A left-chest logo is often 8 to 10cm. Sizing correctly stops you printing things too big.
- Trim empty space from your files. Transparent padding around a PNG still takes up room on the sheet. Crop your artwork tight to the design.
- Mix big and small. Place large prints first, then fill the gaps with small logos, tags or sleeve prints.
- Rotate designs. Turning a tall design sideways can let it fit alongside others.
- Leave a small gap for cutting. A few millimetres between designs makes trimming easier. Do not let designs touch.
- Use the whole width. On the 42cm roll sheets, arrange designs across the full width before adding length.
- Add extras. If you have space left over, fill it with spare copies. Misprints happen when pressing, and a spare saves a reorder.
Getting your artwork right
Mocked Up prints at 300 DPI. For sharp prints, your image should have enough pixels for the size you want. Transparent backgrounds matter too, or you will get a white box around your design. Our guide on preparing artwork for DTF printing covers file types and resolution in more detail.
